In the last twelve years, I have raised money to help groups fight for equal rights, preserve our natural heritage, and protect a woman’s right to choose. I feel privileged to have been part of some of the most critical fights of my generation.

The thing about working for Telefund is that the "why we do what we do" comes first. The staff – from the principals to the account and operations staff to the callers – come to the table with a commitment to doing meaningful work.

The real fun of the job is putting our heads together and figuring out how we can do what we do even better. We test scripts until we’re sure we have the message that will generate the best results. We experiment with variations to our caller training and supervision model to ensure that each caller gets the attention they need to represent our clients and their important campaigns effectively. We figure out better ways to crunch numbers, analyze them and make recommendations. We try things that fail and we try things that change the way we look at calling for years to come.

Every day, I commute to my office knowing that I’m doing worthy work. I also know that I’m doing the work in a way that’s instructive and contributes to our clients’ ability to tackle important issues over the long haul. It’s a pretty good commute, one that I feel lucky to be able to make every day.

Gigi Norcross has worked with progressive non-profit organizations and their fundraising programs for 17 years. Gigi oversees the client services and operations divisions of the company.
